Premico: Coherent Competence Development with Vuolearning


Premico uses the Vuolearning online learning environment for competence development and training their staff. The solution supports the everyday life of an expert organization and makes it easier to manage trainings and instructions.

Premico is a real estate fund and asset management company, specialized in residential investments. They serve professional investors with services related to fund, separate account mandate, and property asset management. The company operates both with domestic and international investors and they are an Alternative Investment Fund Manager licensed and supervised by the Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority. Premico’s expert organization employs around twenty professionals.

In this customer story, Premico’s Chief Financial Officer Rami Sinnelä shares the company’s experiences with Vuolearning.

Competence development as a strategic goal

In Premico, success is built on strong expertise, a sense of responsibility, and professional conduct. In an expert organization, everyone works towards a common goal: to deliver real economic value to clients in all market conditions. This is reflected in a long-term commitment to the personnel’s competence development.

A couple of years ago, competence development was chosen as one of the strategic priorities, and Premico decided to implement a centralized learning environment to support continuous learning and the management of trainings.

Premico’s CFO Sinnelä was responsible for the selection process of the learning platform. They compared multiple options - free and paid, domestic and international - but many of the solutions turned out to be too heavy for an expert organization the size of Premico. Vuolearning was chosen as their platform especially for the scalable pricing, easy implementation, and being domestic.

Trainings and instructions all in one place

Implementing Vuolearning was easy. Single-sign on (SSO) makes it easier for the employees to get to the platform, and the system integrates easily into their working environment.

Premico has three types of trainings on the platform: mandatory for everyone, mandatory for some, and voluntary trainings. As an Alternative Investment Fund Manager, the company’s line of business is regulated, and for example some of the personnel are required to take specific trainings due to compliance. Additionally, the whole personnel has recurring trainings for example about information security.

The learning platform also works as the centralized place for internal instructions. Previously, the instructions were scattered in many places, which made it difficult to find them. Now all the information is in one place, which makes the everyday life easier and saves time.

In addition, Premico is transferring their personnel guide to the learning platform and creating a clear onboarding path for new employees.

Coherence for competence management – also in a small organization

According to Sinnelä, one crucial benefit of a learning environment is more coherent competence management. The organization can track the completing of trainings and if necessary, send reminders for missing completions or trainings that need to be renewed. The employees themselves can also easily see their own trainings and whether they are up to date.

Even though a learning environment might feel like a big investment for a small expert organization, Premico sees it first and foremost as an efficient tool for competence development.

”When choosing a learning platform, pay attention to the scalability. There are many solutions on the market that are mostly fit for big organizations or which require a lot of technical maintenance. Vuolearning fits a small organization as well, and it can easily be used independently. If necessary, your own contact person will help you,” Sinnelä explains.
