When Forcit, a company that began operations over 130 years ago, set out to modernize their onboarding practices, one thing was clear: the new learning platform had to be easy to use, reliable, and domestically produced. Forcit operates in a critical field of explosives and defense technology, so precision and verification in onboarding are absolutely essential.
In this customer story, we interviewed Forcit's People and Culture Manager Mona Takkinen, who was involved in the selection of the learning platform from the very beginning and lead the system's implementation project. She also serves as the platform's superadmin user.
"We wanted a solution that wouldn't require an IT specialist background. The platform had to be so easy that anyone can create courses," Takkinen explains.
The company chose Vuolearning – and it proved to be the right decision.
Forcit had not previously used a learning platform, nor had they created training materials themselves. The digital leap was carried out in stages: the marketing team handled the platform branding and Vuolearning provided trainings for its use.
"The implementation was very smooth. Everything that we needed was also available as written instructions and videos," Takkinen states.
Now Forcit produces versatile courses using its own internal resources: HR and regional managers create onboarding content, and the IT team produces instructions. The content is created in an agile manner without external assistance.
Forcit uses the learning platform particularly for onboarding. Every employee completes a general onboarding in the platform and in addition, there are regional orientations or for example instructions related to processes and equipment use in the platform.
Compromising safety isn't an option – which means verification must also be reliable.
Forcit adopted the learning platform gradually, but its use has grown year by year. At the same time, development needs have become apparent: the lack of integration with the HR system increases manual work, since for example the platform doesn't include team structures and tracking the completions requires more manual effort.
In the future, Forcit plans to create an integration between the HR system and Vuolearning.
Previously, onboarding days meant an overwhelming flood of information. Now new employees can progress at their own pace and return to the materials whenever needed.
Forcit had hoped for AI capabilities, and Vuolearning's AI tools were adopted enthusiastically. For example, creating course-related questions and tasks is quick and simple with AI.
Takkinen recommends the platform to anyone with onboarding needs. "Yes, I would absolutely recommend it to everyone who needs to do onboarding – good onboarding is essential for every company, and I can't think of a better way to do it," Takkinen says.
